Dream Alive

Hey everyone!

The bands that I’m working with are putting in the effort for some good music and to get themselves out there.

In the last post I talked about recording with With Our Arms To The Sun (WOATTS).. This time I have reason to talk about band DREAM ALIVE.

A few days ago, on Sunday we got together with a Film school student Fred Teng, who put together a crew and some equipment to shoot a music video for the bands song “I Just Want To See You Tonight”.

We got to the location at about 7.40am and wrapped at 6pm. It was a long and tiring day, but really fun and I enjoyed every moment of it.

Keep an eye out on facebook and other media for the video…

Here’s a couple of photos of the shoot:

A couple of days later, today, Tuesday 29th, we did a show called ENTER THE SHELL (.com). A little four-song live performance mixed with a little interview.

Yet again, had fun with it and got to play some live music. If I’m not mistaken then the episode is supposed to come online this Thursday. I’ll definitely post a link and reminder as well :)

Here’s a couple of shots from the location:

Things are moving along with all the bands I’m in and it’s good to be playing. A lot of work to be done still, but it’s all fun stuff – looking forward to it.
I’m sure I have a lot more to post in the near future.

Keep an eye out!
Until next time!

With Our Arms To The Sun

Hey everyone!

Another sunny day here in LA and ready for some great music!

In the last post/update I mentioned about the new band I’m now working with (With Our Arms To The Sun).

This Friday I drove down to Scottsdale, Arizona to do some drum-recording. That desert road seemed to be never ending, but I got there eventually 😀 (wasn’t that bad at all).

I met the guys at a rehearsal place to play through a couple of songs and get some promotional video material of us playing.

The second day we went in to record the drums for those same songs to finish up the promo-package. It was the first time I had ever played with an electronic drum-set (at least what would be worth of calling “playing”).

…and no. I don’t like electronic kits. I’ll leave it at that.

Fortunately the guys at WOATTS have some good samples/plug-ins, that would make it sound quite good. My job was to do my best to get the dots in the right place 😉

I’m really looking forward to see and hear the result of those two days and I’m really glad I can work with those guys.

I’m gonna be playing a show with them at On The ROX on 23rd November.

Exciting times and can’t wait to play some more music! Stay tuned and check the band out on fb : https://www.facebook.com/WithOurArmsToTheSun

A little update

Hey everyone,

It’s been a little while since my last post, but things have been a bit hectic and interesting at the same time.

Some time ago, I wrote that we’re gonna release an EP with my band RADIC. Things changed in the last minute and we decided not to release the EP as intended.
We’re currently looking for a singer to complete the band to continue working on our material and release a proper package of songs. It’s not easy to find the right singer, but hopefully it’ll work out well.

However, since we did already have 3 proper recordings of our first songs, we decided to put them out there anyway, just not to advertise it as much as we would’ve with the EP.
You can find the drum-cam videos on my VIDEO section. The audio files are up on the soundcloud page: https://soundcloud.com/radic-official
And a video of us three recording the song “Elizabeth”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLhghKY3PuM

On “Elizabeth” we invited Helen Leetsar of Silverstique to feature as guest vocals.

The other band that I’m in, DREAM ALIVE, is also working on new material. As I wrote in the last post, we recorded some new songs, that should be released in not too distant future.
Also, next weekend, we’re gonna start shooting our new music video for one of the new songs. I’ll keep you updated on that as well.

We have an upcoming show on 29th in North Hollywood. Not exactly sure, but I think it was a live radio-show. Should be exciting :)

Two of the other artists/bands (singer Steve Smith and singer/songwriter Eric Stern), that I’m working with right now are preparing their live set, so I’m hoping to have my first shows with them in November (fingers crossed).

On a more recent note, I was hired to the band WITH OUR ARMS TO THE SUN to record some new material and if all goes as planned, to go on tour with them as well.
Really cool guys, can’t wait to work with them on the first session next weekend.
They’re based in Arizona, so it’s gonna be a work-road-trip in one 😀 Can’t wait.

The band was recently signed and they’re managed by the same guy who works with band TOOL. If I get new info about possible show or tour dates, I’ll definitely post it here as well.
You can check them out on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/WithOurArmsToTheSun

Right now is the time where I have to put in the time to prepare and get everything set up for all the bands to start gigging. I’m sure I have news about shows and new material for you pretty soon, so definitely keep your eyes open! :)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Studio and EP’s

Good morning!

Exciting times are at hand and I’m having a lot of fun with all the bands I’m playing with.

Last week I spent a day in studio to track some drums for Dream Alive. Eventually it’s gonna be out as an EP, but since the other guys still have to record their parts it’s hard to tell when it will be released. I will definitely write about any updates on this page as well.

The studio that we used to track the drums and bass is owned and run by Simon Phillips, the drummer of TOTO (just a fun fact  😀 ). I used their house drum-set which was a Tama custom set for Simon or should I say, parts of Simon’s set, since he usually uses more elaborate set than I did that day. Still, it was a 24” bass-drum with a tom-mount on top of it.. That was definitely the first time for me to play a kit like that. The rack-tom was so high up that it took some getting used to. I was told that Simon is actually quite short guy himself, so I’m curious, how he plays the tom’s like that 😀

On another note, I’ve mentioned before that my other band RADIC, is getting ready to release the first EP. We recently got back all the final mixes of the songs and I have to say it sounds pretty killer. The drums were recorded in a very “home-made” method, but with the help of our friend Aksu Hantu from Finland, he actually got it to sound way better than I would’ve expected.

We still have to finish up some of the production work, before releasing it, but I hope that within couple of weeks we should be done with the most of it.

I’ll post any updates as soon as I get the chance :)

Have a good rest of the week!

That summer…

Hey everyone!

I really hope you’re enjoying this summer and the weather as much as I do, because a lot of stuff is going on and the Sun smiling down on us definitely helps on all of that.

For the past few weeks I was out of LA, went to Estonia to get some new music done and take some time to relax at the same time. Had some awesome time there.

Since the main core of my band SILVERSTIQUE is in Estonia, we most definitely had to make the full use of it and so we ended up in studio for a couple of days and recorded the song “Let Me Hear You Speak”. We’ve had recordings and videos of that song (even on this site right now), but we never had the chance to record it in studio. Also, we sat down and wrote/recorded a totally new song, I’m not even sure what the title is going to be yet, but if you guys like Silverstique, then those two songs are definitely something to wait for.
Right now Helen and Martti are working to get the vocal and guitar tracks in and then I think my great buddies from RADIC, Will and Raz are gonna fill in on the bass and lead guitar, so it’s safe to say we’re all pretty excited about this.

Another huge thing I’m working on right now is RADIC’s upcoming EP “Glimpse OF The Beast”. As the band is currently 3-piece band with no singer, we asked Helen from Silverstique to help us out with one of the songs. So when I was back in Estonia, we went in and recorded those vocal tracks.
Currently, the 3 songs are being mixed and hopefully we have them in a couple of weeks. Then we finalise the package (artwork etc) and release it.
Yet again, super excited about releasing this and can’t wait for all of you to hear it.
Before the EP comes officially out, we’re gonna put out a little trailer as well to give you a glimpse of “Glimpse Of The Beast” 😉

About a week back, another band that I’m playing with, DREAM ALIVE, released a music video and a couple of days later we played a live show at the KING KING in Hollywood. It was a great show with great friends and couple of other bands. Definitely a great way to release the video.
You can find the video on this youtube page: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1GhSIJhta8
Keep an eye on this page to see when and where the band is going to play next :)

This week has been and continues to be really busy for me.. Had a couple of auditions and rehearsals with different bands and artists and I really hope to be able to announce some new upcoming gigs really soon, so make sure you keep your eye on the “gigs” page 😉

I will most certainly will be updating this site some more in the upcoming future and will let you know asap when I get any new info about any of the projects and bands I’m playing with.

Be good and let’s make the best of this “Rock-n-roll-Summer” !
Talk soon!

Coming along…

Hello friends!

It’s been a busy time here and working hard on getting things fully going.

At the end of last month I played with Dream Alive at the Joint. The turnout was pretty good and the gig was fun. At the moment, the next gig with them is set on 18th July.
The band also released a couple of pictures from the latest photo shoot and the next step is going to be a music video. It’s gonna be a public event, so feel free to get some more information from Dream Alive facebook page.

On a newer note, I’m happy to announce that next month I’ll be starting rehearsals with a singer/songwriter Eric Stern. Really cool dude and has great songs. Check him out on Soundcloud :)

And of course, my personal project, RADIC. We have finished recording most of the tracks for our first 3 songs, which are going to be on our debut-EP. I can tell you now, that it’s gonna be called “Glimpse of the Beast”.
The tracks are just about ready to be mixed and all the production work that goes with the whole thing is being organised as well.

There is still a lot of work ahead, with all of the current projects, but we’re getting there.

Keep your eye on the updates and we should have cool stuff to present to you soon enough!

Keep calm and let’s see what happens…

Hello friends!

I trust all is well and you’ve got your sunscreen for the sunny days coming up this week.. Or if you’re on the other side of the world, let’s hope spring will get there soon enough.

A quick update on what’s been going on and what’s yet to come.

On 28th April, I had an awesome show with Silverstique. Unfortunately not too many people showed up, but all of us in the band enjoyed the night and are very grateful for the people who did come.
If we’re lucky, we might have some footage to upload as well, but I’m not sure when that might happen yet.

I also had a show with band Dream Alive at the King King in Hollywood. Another great night and we had a good time. It was my first time to play live with those guys so it was pretty exciting to see what’s gonna happen, but everything went well.

I have also been rehearsing with a new project with a couple of my good friends, where we play bunch of jazz-standards. We’re planning on starting with shows pretty soon, so definitely another thing to wait for.

And of course.. RADIC.. We’ve been busy preparing for recording our first demos and I’ll be going in to do the drum tracks on Saturday.
We’re all excited to continue writing and hitting stages as soon as possible.

Fun times right now in every way.
I’ll keep you posted as anything new comes up.

All the best!

| SILVERSTIQUE live@Whisky A GoGo | 28th April | 10pm |

Dear Friends!
I am extremely happy to announce the second LA show of my band from Estonia – SILVERSTIQUE.

The first one occurred almost exactly a year ago at the Roxy’s Lounge (On The Rox).

This year we went for a bigger bite – The Whisky!

Silverstique is a modern hard rock band from far-away spot on the globe – Estonia.
With powerful, yet melodic female lead-vocals, heavy riffs and hard-hitting drums, the energy is undeniable.

Helping us out with some extra muscle for this show are two of our great friends and awesome musicians Will Weiner on bass and Raz Azraai on guitar.

It’s gonna be very hard rocking night!

The ticket’s are $10 BUT…
if you buy 3 you pay for 2!
if you buy 6 you pay for 4!

We would very much like to see you all there, to support and enjoy some Estonian Rock!

The End & The Beginning

Hello everyone!

This past month has been crazy busy in pretty much every aspect.

The biggest thing was of course getting all my final exams done properly at Musicians Institute and I know now, that I succeeded quite well.
During the preparations for finals I had to rehearse and play with two bands, which took its share of time, but all in all I was really happy with everything – There is nothing better than being busy doing music!

On March 23rd, another big section of my life came to an end – I graduated MI. Being at MI for 18 months has been one of the most important crossroads in my life yet. It was the time I really chose to pursuit the path of a professional musician. There is no way back!

Stanley Love, MI graduation '13

I would like to thank a few people that have helped me during this journey:
*My private teachers, Ryan Brown and Jeff Bowders – It was pleasure. *All my friends here in LA – Your friendship and support has been and continues to be invaluable to me, Thank you! *Everyone at MI – The memory and the experience will follow me for the rest of my life. *My awesome parents – well, someone had to pay for it all..hahahaha…. The support has been the pushing force for me to follow my dreams. *And of course my dearest Sister and her husband… ’nuff said!

The plans for near future are to continue with all the current projects and start new ones.
The first thing is to continue recording first demos with my band RADIC. Hopefully we’ll get some new pictures and videos up on facebook soon as well.

I’ll keep you posted with the developments.

I hope all of you are having a nice Spring break and lovely Easter holidays!
Keep calm and Rock on! 😉
